Posted in Current Projects on May 26th, 2008 by admin – 1 Comment

KOAA created this story for their news broadcast to let viewers know about the new site. Nuleaf Media designed and built the new KOAA.com website using a platform called Zope4Media a few months ago. We’ll be doing a case study on the Z4M platform soon, until then enjoy this video.

“Private Label” E-Commerce Site

Posted in Current Projects, Industry Innovation on May 23rd, 2008 by admin – 1 Comment

Nuleaf Media received the go ahead to start 2 new sites for CorVirtus, Inc. We redesigned their Hiring Tracker application recently, and now are moving into a complex e-commerce solution that will allow them to create a number of ‘private label’ stores. The private label stores will have a completely different look and feel, pull products from a centralized database, and allow each micro site to set their own pricing and product selection.

Completed Skateboard Deck

I finished the skateboard deck early early this morning and easily hit the deadline for the charity event. Speaking of, some of you have have asked which charity the skate decks are being used for and I’m happy to say that the proceeds will be donated to the Children’s Literacy Center’s “Ramp’d 4 Reading” program. All the decks will be sold via a live auction during a skate demo being put on by North Shore and Element here in Colorado Springs.

Everyone is encouraged to come out to the event this Sunday between 9am and 5pm. It’s at 1466 W. Garden of the Gods Rd, next to the new Spicy Pickle. It’s an outdoor event so put on the sunblock and show off those pale legs while you find the art deck of your dreams.

There will also be live graffiti art by our friend Halo, you have to check him out if you aren’t familiar with his work.

If you have any questions or want more information please contact us.

Here are a couple of shots taken during the process, we’ll get a nice shot from a real camera tomorrow. :)

Finetune Desktop

A description of Finetune from their website:

What is it you’d say we do here?

* Type an artist’s name, we create a playlist of related songs for you to listen to.
* Create your own playlist! You hand pick each song or let us auto-complete with our recommendation technology.
* Explore the finetune community – browse artists, users, playlists and more.
* Listen to professionally managed playlists spanning todays most popular terrestrial radio formats.
* Embed your playlist in your blog or MySpace page.

The desktop version of their service was developed using Adobe Air and it’s a slick and quick interface that allows for easy access to all kinds of music that you can listen to, share and buy. It also integrates with your iTunes playlist, and pulls artists into your interests based on your music library.

I’ve been listening to the service for a good 12 hours now, and it’s a great commercial free way to learn about and listen to music! Try it out > Finetune Desktop

Chosen Deck Design

Posted in Fun on May 20th, 2008 by admin – 1 Comment

This is the design we went with. I picked up the paint tonight, taped off the edges of my board and laid down two coats of a deep purple. So far it’s looking pretty good!

We’ll have this done in the next few days and get it off to the charity event just in time. This design will consists of 3 colors and the design will be spray painted and clear coated onto the bottom of the deck.

One lucky person will take this board home the night of the big event. I hope it goes to someone who really likes it or I might have to figure out a way to snake it back for the shop.

This is my first experience with designing anything like a skateboard. It’s kind of nice because you don’t have to consider monitor resolutions, mac / pc compatibility issues, older browsers or bad end user equipment.

The challenge is introduced in the static aspect of the design. It’s much like a print ad or a piece of art in that it only provides one opportunity to convey the message.

These are designs we created just for fun, something we are doing through Edifice Gallery for an upcoming charity event. One of these designs will be painted onto a skateboard deck.
